Printable Fall Counting Activity Book For Children

As the leaves turn vibrant shades of orange and gold, it’s the perfect time for your kids to explore this Fall Counting Book.

A couple of years ago, I created this Spring Counting Book and I have gotten many messages from moms and teachers loving them. So, I decided to make a fall-themed version!

Counting activity books are fantastic for children, they help kids grasp numbers in a playful and engaging way.

And you can also use them to improve literacy skills! More on that below 😉

The cute little pumpkins, the crunchy leaves, and an adorable scarecrow will guide your toddlers and preschoolers who are learning to count to 10.

Sounds great?

How To Make This Activity Book

  • Print your PDF on regular paper or cardstock.
  • Each page features two activities— cut them apart along the dashed line.
  • Arrange the pages in any order you like, then staple them along the left edge. Some parents like to put the pages in order, while others prefer random positions.
  • Get some markers, colors and pencils, and you’re ready to start enjoying your new book!

How To Use This Counting Activity Book

This book is a great way for kids to practice a variety of skills, including:

  • Cutting
  • Coloring
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Identifying numbers

You can start by putting the book together with your children.

Let them cut along the dashed lines.

Staple the pages together in the order that you prefer.

If your child is new to numbers, place the worksheets from 1 to 10 sequentially.

For children who already know their numbers and are just practicing, feel free to mix up the worksheets.

Let your kids color and decorate the cover of their book as they want.

Then, use the second page to help your kids identify numbers from 1 to 10 and practice writing them.

First, you can use just the index finger to trace the numbers and then you can use a thick marker to write both the numbers and their spellings.

Next, you can start going through each page of the book.

You can start working on the literacy aspect by asking questions like:

– “What do you see?”

– “Do you like ___?”

– “What color do you think ___ are/is?”

– “Have you seen ___ in person?”

These kind of questions can help your kid improve their vocabulary and word knowledge while developing a deeper understanding of the things they see.

At this point, let your child color the objects as they wish.

Then, count the objects with your kid.

You can ask: “How many ___ do you see?” or “How many ___ can you count?”

You can cover each image with a manipulative as they count.

Right after counting, help them write the number to complete the sentences.

Once you finish the activity book, you can read it aloud to reinforce vocabulary.

Encourage your child to count the objects again and to read the words. This will help them with counting, one-to-one correspondence, and subitizing.

Use this opportunity to talk about the changing seasons and how fall is different from others.
