It’s time for some holiday fun for kids, and we couldn’t think of a better idea than making these cute Christmas toilet paper roll crafts!
They are super easy to make, especially if you use our printable templates, which you can get here or at the end of this post.
You’ll also be giving your recycled toilet paper rolls a second life while practicing cutting and constructions skills with your children. Plus, they are also great for encouraging creative play.
In this post, I’ll show you how to turn your toilet paper rolls into six different Christmas characters, including Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, the Grinch, an Elf, and a Gingerbread man.
First, I will tell you all the supplies required to complete these holiday crafts.
Then, you can find the instructions to make them, followed by a short video tutorial.
And in the end, you can just get your printables and start crafting.
I know your kids will just love this activity, so let’s make it!
Materials
Here are the supplies you need to make these crafts:
- Christmas Toilet Paper Roll Templates (get them here or at the end of this post)
- 6 Toilet Paper Rolls
- White Paper or Cardstock
- Printer
- Scissors
- Tape
- Glue Stick
TIP: If you don’t have enough toilet paper rolls around, just print your templates on cardstock or heavy-weight paper and roll them into cylinders.
How to Make Christmas Toilet Paper Roll Crafts
- Print your printables on white paper or cardstock. On this occasion, we used regular printer paper and it worked just fine.
- Cut out all the pieces.
- Take one rectangle, roll it around your toilet paper roll and secure one side with tape.
- Apply glue on the other side of the rectangle.
- Stick that side on the back of your toilet paper roll to cover it completely.
- Repeat steps 3 to 4 with all the characters, except the gingerbread man (I’ll explain that one at the end).
They should look like this:
- Glue the accessories.
Santa Toilet Paper Roll
To complete your Santa Claus, all you have to do is glue the hat on his head.
Mrs. Claus Toilet Paper Roll
To make Mrs. Claus’ hair, you have to cut both white pieces and fold each one in half through the line.
Then, glue them in the middle and cut the tip to make it round.
Finally, glue the hair strands. One at each side of the face.
Finish by adding the hat.
Reindeer Toilet Paper Roll
For the reindeer, start by gluing the horns behind the head.
Then, add the ears on top of it.
Elf Toilet Paper Roll
Take the elf’s ears and fold them along the red dashed lines. Put glue on the white square and stick each ear on the sides of the face.
Finish the elf by gluing his hat on top of the yellow hair.
Grinch Toilet Paper Roll
The Grinch is just as easy as our friend above.
All you have to do is glue the hat on his head and the hair on his chest (align it with the white band).
Gingerbread Man Toilet Paper Roll
To make our gingerbread man, you don’t need to cover your toilet paper roll. Its natural brown color will work just fine.
Glue the head first and add the bow tie on top. Follow it by gluing the frosting at the bottom and sticking the buttons between the tie and the frosting.
Separate both hands by cutting them through the red dashed line. Fold each arm along the dark brown box and apply glue to it.
Finish by sticking each arm to one side of the paper roll.
Wasn’t it super simple and fun?
